Welcome to the Inspired Phoenix, LLC website. My name is Chip Huge, PhD, CC and my mission is to help you discover and create a successful future, one you can look forward to and brag about. One that is exciting. One that is rewarding in all ways possible. If you think this sounds too airy fairy read on and let me explain how we can make it happen.
Never in recorded history have
young adults had such a difficult time transitioning from
home or college environments to self reliant and independent living as an adult.
One recent article stated over 39 million 25-34 year olds
are living at their parents home and the numbers are growing.
I believe one reason is many high school students have
little sense of direction other than going to college as
"the next step" or
if not going to school, working at whatever job they can
find. According to latest statistics 65% of all college graduates are returning home after college and 44% are staying for at least a year. Many of these graduates end up
in minimum wage jobs they avoided by going to college and
soon, understandably, become frustrated and disillusioned. Others accept jobs they don’t really want due to
huge financial commitments like student loan repayment
and credit cards or because it is expected of them by family and friends. They often question why they went to school in the first place.
Many are bitter and doubtful of their future.
In other words, more young adults seem less aware of what they want for their future or how to get it than ever before.
I know I went through it and maybe, because it has been
going on for so long, it's accepted as "normal".
And then there are their countless parents not quite sure how to support
their young adult children because of the uncharted territory being covered in parenting
them today.
In response to this recent cultural development, Inspired Phoenix, LLC is dedicated to assisting young adults gain clarity in discovering what they want to be as successful adults and how to get it. And we support their families during this transitional process
if desired.
For over 14 years I have worked with schools and programs for “at-risk” teens and young adults.
Before that I was in private practice in natural health care
as a counselor and nutritionist. I have assisted thousands
of families in
making healthy choices in times of difficult circumstances.
Eventually I saw a lot of them experiencing what I did as a
young adult- unclear about what I wanted to do and or how to
create a sense of direction. That is how I came to the Future Directions
Coach.
As a Certified Coach and former Director of Family Services for SageWalk, the Wilderness School (known to millions
of television viewers ABC's reality show BratCamp), I have
seen and worked with many challenging individual and family dynamics.
The prevalent common denominator of
most of my clients has been the challenge of growing and transitioning successfully beyond their past or current environments
while developing an inspiring personal vision for their future.
Inspired Phoenix feels many young adults don’t understand how to approach their future because of
five major factors.
- Based on much of today’s family and educational focus
most students know more about their weaknesses than their strengths.
- They know what they don’t want rather than what they do want (often resulting in a sense of overwhelment).
- They haven’t learned the necessary tools and mindset that reflect their uniqueness
and would successfully usher them into today’s fast paced and changing career market.
- They are at a stage of development beyond listening to their parents
- They have become complacent. Reality is what it is
and can't change.
Therefore, Inspired Phoenix’s first level of support is helping our clients discover and understand their natural strengths, talents and motivators by using simple but sophisticated, state of the art assessment tools. These assessments can be taken over the internet and
our feedback consultations and coaching are given over the phone.
Once aware of this information, our focus is coaching them in planning their future direction by developing a Personal Vision based on the following factors…
Learning some simple success principles and then practicing them in real life situations can go a long way
(and be enjoyable in the process). Often it is just knowing where to start.
We use the tools of some of the greatest coaches in the
world. Based on our experience these are practical and
simple approaches that work for most individuals and their families.

Most of our clients have been raised in environments where accomplishment was the primary consideration and as a result experience high levels of unneeded stress. This stress hinders good decision-making and we give our clients permission to discover (or re-discover) how enjoyable decision making can be again.
There is a huge difference between motivation and
inspired action.

Discovering your “authentic self” is done when the rules of the game are understood. The challenge has been accepting what others say are the rules and then finding out they don’t work for you. We encourage discovering the real “You” and then aligning and playing with it.

Finally, for parent support and encouragement, we offer an empowering, proven parenting program that will assist their children’s successful transition to independent living whether is be school or a career. We use weekly teleconferencing to accomplish this.
